Laura Alary grew up in Halifax, in a house with a radio tower in the backyard. She spent many childhood hours listening to her dad (an amateur radio operator) make contacts with people around the world. Finding that storytelling is her own way of connecting, Laura has written many books for children, including The Curious Life of Cecilia Payne, Who Needs the Dark? and All the Faces of Me, which was a 2024 Charlotte Zolotow Award Honor Book. Laura now lives in Toronto but comes home to Nova Scotia whenever she can.
