A.J.B. (John) Johnston is the author of five novels and the author or co-author of sixteen books on different aspects of the history of Atlantic Canada. Ni'n na L'nu: The Mi'kmaq of Prince Edward Island won three prizes, while Endgame 1758: The Promise, the Glory and the Despair of Louisbourg's Last Decade was awarded a Clio by the Canadian Historical Association. The government of France made John a chevalier of France's Ordre des Palmes académiques in recognition of his many publications on French colonial history.
