Nimbus Hiring Announcement: Simon Thibault as Developmental Editor-at-Large
On February 1, 2019
Nimbus Publishing is pleased to announce Halifax-based author, food journalist, and radio producer Simon Thibault will be joining their editorial team as developmental editor-at-large. The one-year contract position beginning February 1, 2019, will find Thibault developing projects in both a mentorship and assistant acquisitions role, in three specialty subject areas: food-related and chef-focused, LGBTQ2A+, and Acadian projects.
Says Thibault, It’s not only important to help people tell their stories, but to tell them in the best way possible, in a manner that suits that person’s story. This is why I am looking forward to working with Nimbus, because they asked me to come along with them to not only find stories, but to find the best ways possible in telling them.
Whitney Moran, Managing Editor for Nimbus, adds, We couldn’t be more thrilled about bringing someone with Simon’s passion, insight, and wellspring of ideas to our team. We look forward to welcoming him and growing Nimbus’s list in new and increasingly diverse ways.
Simon Thibault’s written work has been featured in The Globe and Mail, The Huffington Post, and Vice, and his audio work has been featured on CBC. He has been a columnist for CBC Radio and Radio-Canada, speaking on everything from food to LGBTQ2A+ issues, in both English and in French. He has also worked as a programmer for festivals such as Devour! The Food Film Festival and the annual Terroir Symposium in Toronto.
Simon’s work focuses on food and culture, and how and where they intersect. His first book, Pantry and Palate: Remembering and Rediscovering Acadian Food (Nimbus, 2017) was shortlisted for the Taste Canada Cookbook Awards.
