Nimbus Publishing is Atlantic Canada’s largest English-language publisher. Nimbus produces approximately fifty new print books a year (as well as ebooks and audiobooks) on a range of subjects relevant to the Atlantic Provinces— children’s picture books and fiction, literary non-fiction, social and cultural history, nature photography, current events, biography, sports, and cultural issues. Nimbus also does distribution for numerous Atlantic publishers, making the company the biggest book distributor on the east coast of Canada. Nimbus is located in the north end of Halifax.
Nimbus Publishing & Vagrant Press is currently seeking a Customer Service/Marketing Assistant to spread the word about Atlantic Canadian authors, illustrators and other book creators to a variety of loyal and newfound book-loving accounts across Atlantic Canada, and beyond.
Full job description
We are seeking a Full-time Customer Service/Marketing Assistant to join our small but busy team. This role is the first point of contact for our clients and authors who are looking to purchase books. Â The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for helping others and possess effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities. There are also opportunities to collaborate with and provide support to our marketing team.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customers service by answering incoming calls and emails promptly and professionally.
- Input orders received from existing clients and help set up new clients.
- Help resolve issues, and address complaints with empathy and efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with marketing team to offer support where needed.
- Input and record client payments.
Skills Required:
- Passionate about books, you are an engaged reader
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and an ability to pivot and prioritize tasks under tight deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, other MS software
- Design skills with Canva or other design programs are an asset
- An understanding of the Canadian publishing landscape and its current challenges would be an asset; A sense of humour will help too!
