Historic Florida began in 2016 as a Facebook group to share the rich history of the state from when the first photo of Florida was taken in 1862 until just before Walt Disney arrived in Central Florida around 1971. It’s the point in Florida’s history when drastic change began to happen, and things associated with “Old Florida” began to disappear.
The Historic Florida group is now the largest Florida history group on Facebook with more than 170,000 members sharing pictures and information about Florida’s colorful past.
