Ilse Weber was born in1903 Vítkovice, near the industrial area of Moravia -Ostrava in northern Czechoslovakia. A Jewish poet, she published children’s books and radio scripts. In 1925, she published The Scooter Race and other Stories, in 1928 she published Jewish Children’s Tales, and Mendel Rosenbusch in 1930. From 1933 onward she and her family were persecuted by the Nazis until in 1942 they were deported to the Theresienstadt Ghetto, where Ilse worked with sick children.
