Taylor Widrig has a corporate background in the aquaculture and fisheries sector working with seaweed, and the sustainable development of coastal regions through seaweed farming. Prior to her career in oceans she worked as a private yacht chef, and culinary arts instructor at the Loblaws PC Cooking school featuring on trend dishes, plant based and vegetarian foods. Her culinary training was in Northern California. Today, Taylor works in trade development and communications, and the intentions of her work surround access to nutrition and support of vulnerable individuals. Taylor is a past speaker delegate on behalf of the United Nations Development Program in Nairobi, Kenya on poverty reduction and natural resource development, and speaker delegate on food security and seaweed production through various organizations. An award winning seaweed cookbook and mermaid folklore author - she enjoys sailing, skiing, reading, and spending time in nature.

Briana Corr Scott as born in Salem, MA, and grew up in New Hampshire. Her love of painting began early in life, and continued during her studies at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. She moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, in 2006, where she lives with her husband and three young children. She now works from a home studio, and her paintings and poems are inspired by the natural world, particularly the Nova Scotia coast. She Dreams of Sable Island is her first book.
