Shanda LaRamee-Jones is the provincial coordinator for the Read to Me! Nova Scotia Family Literacy Program. She has a passion for supporting early learning and has a master's of education degree in literacy. She lives in Halifax with her husband and son.

Carol McDougall is a writer, editor, and former librarian for the Canadian Children's Book Centre. She received the Mayor's Award for Cultural Achievement and the Progress Women of Excellence Award for her work in early literacy. She is director of the Read to Me! Nova Scotia Family Literacy Program and lives in Halifax.



Maud Lewis (1903-1970) is one of Canada's most celebrated folk artists. She filled her tiny house in Nova Scotia with colourful paintings inspired by nature. People loved her work and would visit her house from all over to purchase it. Even though Maud lived a difficult life, she found joy in the world around her, and shared that joy thought her creativity.
