Mildred Trueman, a graduate of the Montreal General Hospital School of Nursing, spent years in institutional and industrial nursing. But her hobby was always cooking. A native of New Brunswick's Westmorland and Albert counties, she compiled the recipes in Favourite Recipes from Old New Brunswick Kitchens from faded notebooks, scraps of paper, and grandmothers' memories.

Stuart Trueman (1911–1995) was an author, newspaper editor, and celebrated Canadian humourist. He was the winner of the 1969 Leacock Medal for Humour. Stuart collected the often-startling "Medications and Nostrums" that appear in this book.
