There Be Pirates! up for a New Brunswick Book Award

Joann Hamilton-Barry‘s There Be Pirates! is a finalist for the 2019 Alice Kitts Memorial Award for Excellence in Children’s Writing.

The book is an accessible, full-colour history of East Coast piracy. It’s a fun and informative look at the everyday life of some of the fiercest pirates of all time.

Joann is the director of the Saint John Free Public Library, and the author of three other books including Oak Island the Search for Buried Treasure; Boldly Canadian: The Story of the RCMP and the upcoming The North Atlantic Whale.

The winners in all four categories of the New Brunswick Book Awards will be revealed at an awards presentation ceremony on Saturday, May 25, at the Moncton Press Club.
